"Gertie" the Red Squirrel is part of of my British Wildlife on Wood collection.
 
This original squirrel painting has been lovingly hand-painted in acrylic paint on a beautiful piece of Scottish Elm. The wood has been sanded so as to retain some rustic character and charm, but also to bring up the stunning grain. 
 
This Red Squirrel Painting measures 14.7cm (w) x 27cm (h) x 2cm (d). It comes complete with a saw-tooth picture hanger ready to hang on your wall. Gertie would look beautiful in a kitchen, lounge, bedroom, hallway or conservatory and would make a lovely, unique wooden gift for a British wildlife lover.
 
I paint British wildlife on wood rather than canvas as I love using wood as a natural and sustainable background to my artwork. Much of the wood that I work with is reclaimed and therefore has some beautiful markings and character that deserve to be preserved and celebrated for years to come. This is a one-off piece of British wildlife art and having been coated in a flat matt varnish for protection, it should stand the test of time and can be treasured for a life-time.
